Dr. Saggio Receives Omicron Alpha “Outstanding Administrator Award

Dr. Joseph J. Saggio receives the 2023-2024 Omicron Alpha “Outstanding Administrator Award” from the AG Alliance for Christian Higher Education
On Monday August 5, 2024 Dr. Joseph J. Saggio, Professor Emeritus and Special Assistant to the Campus President at Nelson University, American Indian College Campus received the “Omicron Alpha Award” as this year’s 2023-2024 “Outstanding Administrator” by the AG Alliance for Christian Higher Education and the General Council of the Assemblies of God. The award which included a beautiful gift clock with an engraved, personalized inscription and a generous gift check was presented to Dr. Saggio by AG General Superintendent Rev. Doug Clay during the General Presbytery Meeting held in Columbus, Ohio. The meeting was preceded by a banquet in honor of this year’s award recipients. The Omicron Alpha Award is the highest award given by the General Council to select college and university administrators.
Dr. Saggio has served AIC in a number of capacities since 1994 and previous to his installation as Professor Emeritus in October 2023 he served as Executive Vice President and Administrative Dean. He has also served as a professor, administrator, grant writer, speaker in various venues around the world, and Dr. Saggio is also an interdisciplinary researcher who has co-edited one book, and authored chapters in several others along with numerous articles and conference papers. In 2023 he was approved to serve as an Evaluator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges.
Dr. Saggio has received multiple awards and holds degrees and certificates from five universities including an Ed.D. in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University and also post-doctoral studies at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
Reflecting on the occasion of this award, Dr. Saggio has said “I wish to thank Nelson University’s President, Dr. Kermit Bridges for his nomination for the Omicron Alpha Award. I wish to also thank Dr. Jonathan Gannon, Campus President of American Indian College for his endorsement as well. It is my pleasure and honor to serve under their leadership and to serve the AIC community of faculty, staff, and students as a missionary educator. Finally, I wish to thank my wife Nancy for her ongoing love and support so that I can continue to serve. I am truly honored and blessed. Soli Deo Gloria! (To God be the glory!)”
